04.01.08, Ann Arbor, Michigan — The Great Lakes Division of the American Cancer Society awarded re:group the assignment to create, plan and execute the regional campaign to promote the Society's Cancer Resource Network. Kevin Thompson, vice president of Communications and Marketing for the Division said, "re:group's experience in the healthcare market and their ability to understand our mission and develop effective targeted campaigns made them our first choice for this assignment."
The Cancer Resource Network of the American Cancer Society is a rich source of information and access to assistance for patients, survivors, family and caregivers touched by a cancer diagnosis. This service is available 24/7/365 through the ACS' National Cancer Information Center, helping individuals to navigate their very personal journey through treatment and recovery. But while the American Cancer Society responds to over 11,000 calls from Michigan and Indiana each year, there are many patients who are not aware of the invaluable support that they can access through the national toll-free number. The vertically integrated American Cancer Society campaign is due to launch in April 2008, according to Janet Muhleman, president of re:group.
re:group has extensive experience in healthcare marketing, advertising and communications. Past award-winning efforts include anti-smoking campaigns for the University of Michigan Community Health Services, the Tennessee Tobacco QuitLine and Leade Health. In addition, re:group created the Cancer AnswerLine, Hand Hygiene, and M-LINE campaigns for the U of M Health System.
The American Cancer Society is dedicated to eliminating cancer as a major health problem by saving lives, diminishing suffering and preventing cancer through research, education, advocacy and service. Founded in 1913 and with national headquarters in Atlanta, the Society has 13 regional Divisions and local offices in 3,400 communities, involving millions of volunteers across the United States. The Great Lakes Division of the American Cancer Society serves the states of Michigan and Indiana. To talk with them, or obtain free information and resources 24/7, call toll free 1-800-ACS-2345 or visit www.cancer.org.
